Hello Zalfaz and thank you for applying! Now, there are quite many things and questions that came to my mind when I read your application. I'll list them here to make this a little bit easier. -Have you played on Defias always, or was your previous guild perhaps somewhere else? What was your guild's name? -It's good that you openly admit that this is your first RP character. Have you had any other experience in the field of roleplaying, such as pen&paper, larps...? I'm sure that you understand that I cannot accept or decline this application for as long as you do not have a background story. I am willing to help you write one, or to assist you in the ideas for it. I suggest you start by thinking over your character's childhood. What is/ was his family like? Do you see Zalzaf as more magic-based or the rough melee fighting type? Is he religious? How old is he? Now I encourage that you write a good background story. Use time to complete it. And just to point this out, in case you were wondering, the Frostmane Hold, being the stronghold of the Frostmane Tribe's (that's us peeps!) is not allied with Horde or Alliance. We are independent, mostly rather isolated. A hunter-gatherer tribe with a few aces up our sleeves in case we'd need to battle If you need assistance, please write here or contact Smenkhara, Serekh or Zorita ingame for support -however today we are having a guild gathering so I might be occupied with that. Feel free to poke any of the holdies online if the said characters are not online -I am usually one whisper away. Also I strongly recommend to read some lore from wowwiki www.wowwiki.com/Troll of trolls in general www.wowwiki.com/Ice_troll ice trolls www.wowwiki.com/Frostmane_tribe and finally, us frostmanes. Please skip the information of Great Father Arctikus, we don't follow that. Hoping to hear from you soon.

OK, I've given it some thought and read up the back story of the tribe, so here goes:
Background Zalfaz is 30 years old, highly religious, and proficient with magic.
30 years ago Zalfaz was born in Frostmane Hold in Dun Morogh. The young troll showed big interest in learning about the gods and forces of nature, and it was soon apparent that he had a natural talent for magic. The first one to recognize his potential was his older brother, Kon'nak, who was at the time involved in frequent raids against the Ironforge Dwarves. At age 14, his brother took Zalfaz on his first raid. Zalfaz, who was young and inexperienced, took great pride in this and soon he and his brother was involved in practically every action that was taken against the dwarves.
However, one day it all changed. Zalfaz had just turned 17 when they went on a raid to sabotage the brewery in Kharanos. It was obvious that the dwarves had been expecting them, they had snipers in the hills and plenty of foot soldiers hiding in the village. Although they put up a fierce fight, Zalfaz and his group of 10 Frostmane warriors were soon overrun by the dwarves's superior numbers. 3 of the trolls managed to escape, only to return to the village and be frowned upon as cowards for leaving their tribesmen behind. 5 others were killed, but Zalfaz and his brother were taken as prisoners by the dwarves. The two were separated the next day, but Zalfaz prayed to the Gods that he would see his brother again some day.
After three weeks behind bars in Ironforge, Zalfaz was escorted along with other prisoners north to Menethil Harbor. Here, he was put on a trading vessel as a slave. Despite his hatred for the dwarves, Zalfaz had never been one to display his grudges. He was a hard working slave, and quickly learned basic dwarven language, though with a strong accent. This earned him trust among the slavers, and after about 15 months he became a slave master on the boat. In his new position he had an opportunity to vent all the hatred that had built up in him, so after a while he was known as one of the most brutal slave masters in dwarven history, using both physical force and magic to keep his fellow slaves working hard. Although he was a ruthless and feared master to all other races, he always did his best to keep troll slaves away from harm. After a while he started using his high position to secretly free troll slaves, who were later presumed lost at sea or having escaped on their own. It is probable that the slavers had their suspicions, but because he did such a good job working the other slaves, he was never confronted with it. After years of doing this, his desire to escape slowly faded, as he found that he could help fellow trolls better as a slave master than as a guerrilla in Dun Morogh.
That was until one faithful day when he was told to travel back to Dun Morogh. It was a regular slave execution, or so he thought, and it wasn't his first time executing a slave so he didn't worry about it. Until he saw the slave he was supposed to execute. It was his older brother, whom he hadn't seen in years. (my deepest apologies for the cliché ending) He responded with a loud roar and ran towards his brother, killing two dwarves who were in the way, but it was too late. A sniper shot his brother and another hit him in the leg, so he ran as fast as his hurt leg could into the snowy forest.
Now, after 23 years, he returns limping and pitiful to his tribe who has thought he was dead all these years, hoping to be let in.
What do you think? I hope this was original, if every second troll RP'er has a history as a slave, I can change it.

I'm glad you made write that story, as well as giving me the links. My mind has been buzzing with thoughts about my characters life since I wrote it. Expect some good bonfire stories^^
